Skinny Fat - How to lose body fat

by Steve
(UK)

Where did it all go?

Where did it all go?

Hi. My problem is probably not an unusual one but I am yet to find a working solution. Over the last couple of years I have lost a lot of weight, 60 lbs in all, but I still can't lose my belly fat.

The result of this is that from my neck down to my stomach is slim but my stomach area still has a lot of wobbly fat which is out of proportion to the rest of me.

I live in the UK, I'm 39 years old and now weigh 147 lbs. I work out 5 times a week, 3 days doing resistance training and interval training with the other two days using a bodyweight workout or medicine ball workout...something different to the other three days.

My diet is pretty clean, as far as I can make it with the occasional relapse. I'm a vegetarian and don't drink alcohol. I have tried many various workout routines including Turbulence Training and while I have managed to tone up almost every other part of my body none of them have succeeded in ridding me of my flabby stomach.

I would appreciate any advice you could give me to try to solve this problem once and for all. I realise it isn't going to be easy but I am willing and able. I enclose a photo that might help illustrate the point. You can see from this the difference, the trousers I am wearing in the picture used to fit really nicely.

burn bodyfat with nontraditional workouts
by: Monica

Hey Steve

Great job on the weightloss. You look great and if I had to guess I would say you're 11% bodyfat but you may want to get measured so you can set some goals.

You are obviously doing all the right things for fatloss and weightloss otherwise you would look flabby and you clearly have some good muscle tone.

The key now is to shift to longer nontraditional muscle building workouts 40 minutes 3 times a week as well as more dynamic cardio 20-30 minutes 3 times a week.

Check out the nontraditional workout guide by Mike Geary. It includes videos, tips, and other styles of training your body needs right now to get results.

Nontraditional Fat Blasting Workouts

My top 3 picks for you would be stair sprints, bag boxing, and any bodyweight workouts (ring training, ropes, plyometrics, etc).

Also be sure to check out Jon Hind's best ab exercise and 60 day challenge plan. His plan is awesome.

Monica, thank so much for your advice and suggestions. I am excited and motivated to try some of them out and have high hopes of success. This site has been an amazing inspiration for me and even if I can't do the full routines I have taken a lot of your exercises and added them to my own programs. Thank you again for taking the time to reply to my post and giving me so many alternatives to choose from.

Steve, UK.
