Tabata Interval Soundtracks

by Nicky
(Indiana)

Hi Monica,

I print these workouts off and take them to the gym with me. I am not finding the soundtracks in order to follow the Tabata (sp?) intervals. Where can I get these so I can go through the intervals effectively?

Tabata Intervals Music & Tips
by: Monica

Hi Nicky

So glad to hear you're using the workouts. Just some quick info on tabatas and where to find soundtracks and other useful tips.

The tabata protocol is named after Izumi Tabata, Ph.D., a former researcher at Japan's National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya.

The tabata protocol is also known as tabata intervals, tabatas, and is often mistaken for Workout Muse.

Workout Muse is workout music that you can download onto any mp3 device and it times your intervals for you.

Workout Muse is not strictly for tabatas. It includes many other interval combinations as well as tabatas. You can find it at the itunes app store. The video below is what it sounds like.

I've used it and it's a great tool because it motivates you to train hard, makes the workout more fun, and keeps you focused on the exercise instead of on the clock.

Time Your Tabata Intervals with The Gymboss
by: Monica

Another great tool you can use to time your tabatas or any other type of intervals is the Gymboss.

I like the vibrate feature because you can set it to both beep and vibrate then just set it on a surface or attach it to your clothing while listening to your own music and the timer will just tell you when to stop and start (based on what interval settings you choose).

I do own two timers and find that using a timer really keeps you on your toes and people in my bootcamp like it too because the sound of the beep means they get to rest.

Watch the video below to see how it works.
